The Times Is Talking Fashion

Spin It: The Black Ghosts

If you're a Twilight fan, you'll know this song.. I'm totally in love with "Full Moon" by The Black Ghosts!  Theo Keating and Simon Lord make up this awesome UK duo.  They actually met over the internet and only met in person after creating quite a bit of music together.  "Full Moon" (above) is one of the more mellow songs on their album The Black Ghosts, which was released last year and featured in Twilight.  Their sound is pretty unique and their music videos are equally weirdly interesting.

Whiskey Sour

Ingredients:
· 1 1/2 oz whiskey
· 1 1/2 oz lemon juice
· 3/4 oz sugar syrup
· maraschino cherry for garnish
Preparation:
1. Pour the bourbon, lemon juice, and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled sour glass.
4. Garnish with the cherry.

You can also switch the base liquor for a different sour experience. Common variations include a Absinthe Sour, Amaretto Sour, Grand Marnier Sour and Midori Sour

The weekend forecast looks beautiful, which might be a sign that spring is here for real now! That means it's time to store the raw, dark denim and bring out some lighter, more relaxed alternatives. Whether you liked it before or not, distressed denim is back again!

Faded, ripped and heavily washed, these jeans are a breathe of fresh air after the dark denim days of winter. This spring, acid wash jeans are hitting the stores like it's 1985! So, if you're in for bolder look than a traditional distressed jean, you may want to try this 80's revival wash. It's a growing trend on the street for both guys and girls. However, for the girls: make sure to grab a pair in a modern cut, because you definitely don't want a case of "mom jeans from the 80's"!!

Above are our picks for the girls. The boyfriend cut at top right is all the rage, playing on the loose, baggy trend of the boyfriend jacket we've been noticing lately. Roll them up, pair with some heeled sandals and you're good to go!

Below are our picks for the guys. Ripped and acid wash finishes in slim, straight leg cuts. A fitted pair is best. You don't want to look like your pants are too big (FYI it makes you look smaller), but you also don't want to look like you're cutting off circulation. A happy medium is where it's at.

Spin It: Passion Pit

Passion pit is an electro pop band from Cambridge, Massachusetts that came together in late 2007. After playing only a few shows they were signed by Frenchkiss Records based out of New York and Columbia in the UK. Their Debut EP Chunk of Change was put out on Sept 16 2008. It was a set of 6 songs that was originally intended as a Valentine’s Day gift for one of the members then girlfriend.

Their EP contains a bunch of well mixed and really different songs like “sleep head” which contains samples of the song “Oro Mo Bhaidin” by harpist Mary O’Hara.

Through Canadian advertisements and MTV ad campaigns Passion Pit has gained quite a large amount of exposure. The band is set to release a new full length album on May 26 called Manners and is defiantly something to pick up.

Ooo La La Well Done!

I love this! There are not many times I am totally impressed with what Drew Barrymore is wearing but this is fantastic. The fit of the dress itself could be changed. I am not too sure I am in love with what is happening at the top aka solid black strap but all together the look is perfect.

The lips and the shoes just make this. The lipstick goes almost perfectly with the shoes which coordinate her from head to toe. They both add that extra bit of fun and punch to the look.

Below is a close up on her hair and make-up. Honestly the hair is done really well though she could use a little hair spray for the fly aways. The thing I like the best about her make-up is its not cakey. Every starlet it seems is always over done with or bright orange. This look with a heavy drama lip still looks refreshing and beautiful.

Even Clothed He Looks Good!

Those of you who thought Henrik Stenson looked good with no clothes on better take note, because Stenson looked sharper than anyone out there today wearing Hugo Boss. His outfit here is the perfect blend of gentle but colourful shades. Nothing says "cool, calm, and collected" (not to mention DAMN FINE!) like this egg shell blue top which fades perfectly through his white belt (which intentionally matches his hat and shoes) into his light grey, perfectly tailored trousers. He may have only shot 1-under today, but if WE were keeping score, he'd be our leader in the clubhouse.

No Here's An Interesting Commercial!

When I was beginning to think that the commercials of recent were heading south with the economy, I saw this!  Sprint is running this fact-filled commercial about the various services that people use on their cell phones.  It's pretty interesting to hear everything quantified!  Also, who knew Sprint would be the first to introduce a 4G network?

Sorry Prayad Marksaeng, I know it's your first Masters, but this is just not right. Not only does that vest look like Mrs. Claus made it for you out of Rudolph's leftover stockings, but you've paired a vertically striped vest with a horizontally striped shirt to boot. Even if you were going for a holiday themed look Valentines day is in February not April! Go home, rethink your outfit!

Umm? Keep Trying?

Well I don’t expect too much from Aubrey O’Day but seriously was this her best shot at being lady like? This is the worst fitting dress I have seen in a long time! Does it need to be pulled down? Was it too small in the waist but to large in the chest? What the f is going on here? There is no part on this dress that even remotely fits her properly. One thing is defiantly for sure this dress needs to be ironed as well!

I have to say her hair and make up have been toned down and they are decent but somebody please scrub off some of this girls tan! A skin cancerous toxic orange glow is not sexy! Aubrey O’Day please try again and this time try something that at least fits!

The Reigning Masters Champ

Well, posting on the Masters wouldn’t be complete without talking about Trevor Immelman the Reigning Masters Champion. His classic outfit is by Nike Golf and Masters-colours themed sneakers are looking pretty sharp. Generally, we don't get to see much of what the golfers look like when they're not playing, but it's cool to see a player as thoughtful about what he is wearing on his feet when he isn't wearing golf shoes. Katy Perry surprise surprise looks like yuck AGAIN. This satin pant suit is no exception to her rampage of bad fashion! What is this? Its bright, shiny, tight and most of all U-G-L-Y. I get it, some of the clothing she wears are funny but I dont get this joke. Lady PLEASE burn this!

Masters Practice Round - Golf Claps: Ian Poulter

Speaking Ian Poulter he is looking sharp as always in his own clothing line on the practice round. Unlike Ryo, Ian has gone for a little more funk on the bottom. Though his pants remind us a little bit of Easter ( how fitting ) we do think they are really fun. This is a perfect example of how to wear crazy well. If you have a statement piece don’t wear 5 others. One speaks volumes and anything more would draw away the impact.

The belt works perfectly with the pants and is not over stated. The white sweater tops off this look perfectly. We have to give you a round of golf claps Ian Poulter. I can’t wait to see what you are wearing on the green for the actual tournament.

Ryo Ishikawa is a 17 year old Japanese star in the making. Here's him taking a shot on a practice round yesterday at the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club. His off white sweater is classic but oh so fresh. We love the pants. Seriously Ed Westwick wishes he had a pair of these puppies. They add a perfect amount of spice to this look without being over powering. The belt really just rounds it all off. In the golf world he is pulling off the “Ian Poulter” better then the man himself!

Tay-Tay Is Worth Gold

People.com is reporting that Taylor Swift recently participated in Hearst's DonateMyDress.org, "the first national network to bring together local dress drive organizations across the U.S., to help girls give and find the dress of their dreams."

Taylor's Jessica McClintock cream and gold prom gown went for $1200!  The country starlette stated:

"I chose to give away this prom dress because I wore it once and loved it! To keep it around, hanging there all by itself and lonely in my closet, never to be worn again seemed a little pointless. I want another girl somewhere to feel good in it and have a great prom night because of this dress.”

Halle In Bubbles

Halle Berry is covering Harper's Bazaar's May 09 cover, which is already creating quite a stir before even hitting the newsstands!  The gossipers don't make much sense though, because they're claiming Halle looks heavily airbrushed, but also older.  If she was THAT photoshopped, wouldn't they have made her look younger, not older?  Just saying..

Photo editing aside, the 42 year old actress looks radiant and healthy!  The photos show off Halle's vibrant personality and the bubbles add a fun, youthful aspect to the shots.  The big bubbles that look to be encasing her are a little strange, but the hair, make-up and clothing all look beautiful on Halle!  The spread was shot by Alexi Lubomirski, who recently shot a pastels editorial for Harper's Bazaar as well.

Inside the mag, Harper's gets Halle to open up about personal areas of her life, including her partner, model Gabriel Aubry and 1 year old daughter Nahla.  She also talks about her habits and of course, dealing with fame.

The Greatest Models Of All Time

In the fashion industry today, we see models in celebrity light.  They have become so influential to the point that a model can sell clothes in an advertisement without a single garment in sight.  Next month, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be featuring a "Model as Muse" exhibition, in honor of the "women who have helped turn fashion into fantasy."  These women are not just models to fashion, but also movers and shakers of society and culture.  They are part of the movements that have made our society what they are today, personifying art and fashion, while pushing boundaries of social norms.  

The model may be influential, but she doesn't do it alone.  It is fashion photographers who are responsible for capturing the emotions and personalities that took fashion by storm.  Paying homage to one great fashion photographer in particular, New York's International Center of Photography plans to showcase the works of Richard Avedon next month as well.

Are You Really Suprised I Am Writing About How Ugly Paris Hilton Looks?

Honestly in life I really try and ignore Paris Hilton in hopes she will just go away. Unfortunately after coming across these two outfits I can’t take it anymore!

Let’s start off with the first picture. The headband I wear myself and I don’t mind what so ever. The skirt meh cute if it was PAIR WITH AN ACTUAL SHIRT. Paris you are already over exposed what the heck girl! Do you really need to tramp it up all the time? Also if you are going to wear a top ( and i use the word top loosely) like that maybe JUST maybe make sure it actually fits!

This brings me two the second picture below. I know you are at the beach but are you seriously going to wear that harness thing? Think of the tan lines! This is not the first time I have seen these Trecky sunglasses either and I can’t really see anyone looking awesome in them, not even you miss Hilton.
Oh Paris we have seen you naked, and now dressed in weird bedroom wear. I think the only way you could shock me with an outfit is if you showed up fully dress and lady like.

Golf Claps: Taylor Swift

I have to give a serious round of golf claps to Taylor Swift. Here she is at the Country Music Awards looking stunning as per usual. She is young and gorgeous and dressed perfectly. If you have watched Taylor Swift over the years you should know she is always put together never slutted out like other young singers in Hollywood.

Though her hair is normally done up pretty similar to this every time she goes on a red carpet but I will say I do like it. The make up here is flawless and not over done which seems to be hard for other starlets to grasp in their own red carpet looks. Her choice of accessories is stellar and suited perfectly to her outfit. Put it all together and BAM you have awesome!

Eye Candy: HOLE IN ONE

Well its Monday morning Eye Candy time but this one has a purpose. This fellow you see right here is Henrik Stenson playing a hole in the WGC-CA Championship at Doral. With no rain gear and a decent amount of holes to go what’s a man to do? Get naked! Who knew golf could be so fun?

Golf is a huge part of lives of the rich and elite. It’s a sport that basically says I am well rounded and I have money and class. The fashions in golf have grown substantially over the last decade. No longer do you have to only wear your golf gear on the green. People, Rolex watches weren’t made for rappers they were branded towards and worn by golfers first.

Starting Thursday a guest writer and I will be taking a look at the fashions of one of the largest golf tournaments in the world, the Masters which is held every year at Augusta National golf club in Augusta, Georgia. I assure you there will be some awesome looks and some decent dudes so stay tuned.

Side note: Even though Stenson stripped down to his skivvies he still played horribly! With those Bjorn Borgs on though he can play a little around of golf with me any day.
