Spotted: Martin

Name: Martin
Occupation: Writer for Paper Magazine
Personal Style: Traditional/Classic

Liked Martin's effortless, classic style. He looked pretty cool and collected outside of J. Crew, which seemed a fitting place to find someone with his style. Great wool blazer too, with a very autumnal quality to it.

T is for Travel

T is also for T:The New York Times Style Magazine, which printed a beautiful cover for its Travel Winter 2009 issue. The "sky's the limit" concept works so well with the photo composition. T Magazine has definitely succeeded in making us want to take a trip to Tobago! If you don't get the New York Times, take a peak at the beach spread here.

Spotted: Shemida & Akilah

Names: Shemida & Akilah
Inspired by: mood
Read: Stylistic Imagination, Style Philosophy

As you can probably tell, we've been drawn to bright neons lately - such a refresher from the usual autumn dulls! The distressed jeans are awesome too and there's no missing that leopard print puffer. Didn't get to asking where she bought the jacket, but there is a version (if not the same one) at H&M right now.

Sexy Time

This D&G Time commercial is currently running on TV and we think it's HOT! Domenico and Stefano never cease to push boundaries, this time with a sexy ménage à trois...

Spotted: Beka

Name: Beka
Occupation: Finance
Personal Style: eclectic, colorful
Inspired by: the "New York, just rolled out of bed" look

Spotted Beka shopping in SoHo. Loved her layered look and especially her awesome neon scarf! You've got to hand it to a someone bold enough to pull off color in a city where everyone wears black and grey.

Add To Cart: Fair Isle

With cool winds picking up and winter arriving, there's good excuse to start dressing a little more festively. One staple we love for winter men's fashion is the Fair Isle print. It's classic and has a subtle holiday quality to it. This Fair Isle sweater from J. Crew fits the bill for $79.50. It's made of soft lambswool and the neck isn't too tight, a common problem with too many crewneck sweaters. The monochromatic grey palette gives this sweater a more modern update as well, making a little edgier than it's camel toned, more traditional counterparts.

Truth Or Dare

Cate Blanchett is covering Vogue, yet again this December. It seems like she gets a Vogue cover at least once a year, though she does make a wonderful dress model. She looks gorgeous and oh so statuesque in the gold Donna Karen Resort 2010 gown in the cover shot. Cate discusses the theatre and her latest role as Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Harvey Theater.
Cate Blanchett may have her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and appear on a postage stamp as one of four "Australian Legends of the Screen," but she remains a creature of the stage. In an era when movie stars try to prove their credibility with brief flights on Broadway, she has made a nest on the end of a wharf in Sydney, Australia, performing Ibsen and Shakespeare, directing Pinter, and, as of last year, serving with her husband, the playwright Andrew Upton, as co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
The article, titled "Truth or Dare" is rather extensive and we honestly haven't read through the whole thing yet, but we do approve of the Oscar de la Renta (below) and Valentino gowns Cate wears in the shoot! As for the drama faces shot... no comment.

This spread was, again shot by Annie Leibovitz. To see the rest of the photos and read the cover story, click here.

Vogue Goes Gaga

You can count on Grace Coddington to produce an amazingly magical photo spread! Vogue may have missed it a little with their November issue, but the December Art Issue is looking ferosh, especially since it's featuring Lady Gaga in a shoot entitled "Little Girl & Boy Lost", styled by Grace and shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz. The shoot was inspired by the tale of Hansel and Gretel, who in the shoot are played by Andrew Garfield and Lily Cole.

In the accompanying article, Lady Gaga discusses art and fashion:
Gaga acknowledges that her art director, Matthew Williams—"my Jean-Paul Goude"—was "the inspiration that made the connection for me between the art world and the fashion world. He used to say things like 'If you want to make a shoulder pad, don't research jackets—research sculpture, mineral rocks, paintings.' He thinks in a different way; he is the designer of the future."
The editorial looks great and of course Lady Gaga adorns a pair of magnificent Nina Ricci heels.

And you must see this behind-the-scenes video, with Lady Gaga showing up the shoot in nothing but a white latex coat. Priceless.

"Walk, Walk Fashion Baby, Work It..."

Lady Gaga is amazing! Her new album The Fame Monster is due to release on November 23rd and we know it's going to be epic, especially after we heard this track (below). The song is called "Telephone" and features none other than the Queen B, Beyoncé.

Can we also talk about Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video?! Completely nuts! Best of all she's wearing the shoes from McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 collection close to the end of the video. Absolutely fantastic.

The shoes...

Diary Of A Trophy Wife

Apparently, the December issue of Harper's Bazaar has more goodies than that epic cover story on R-Patz and K-Stew. One of our favorite rising stars, Amber Heard (remember Hidden Palms, Zombieland, Pineapple Express) teamed up with legendary Godfather actor George Hamilton for a comical satire. The shoot portrays a day in the life of Hamilton and his "trophy wife" Heard as they tan by the pool, hit the red carpet, lunch and more. In a piece "dictated to Harper's Bazaar contributor Rita Wilson by the trophy wife," we get a first-hand account of her day:
"I’m really tired. I’ve had a really busy day. See, I’m experimenting with a new pose. The whole hand-on-hip thing is getting a bit old (something I’ll never be—yay!). Anyway, it’s kind of exhausting standing in my Jimmy Choos in front of a mirror, studying myself. I pride myself on not having to exercise … yet."

"I am a rare and precious creature. That is what my baby tells me. So it doesn’t serve me to look just okay. I have to look hot. He isn’t with me because I can cook! The way my boo puts it is that he has an investment in me. The Botox, collagen, facials, waxings, mani/pedis, hair color, blowouts, spray tans—that’s the “art” I put on my “canvas.” And when it comes to clothes, why would you cover up the Mona Lisa with a Beefy-T? So my baby wants to drape me with the best that money can buy. I can’t help it if my pooky wants perfection."
The concept for the story is pretty hilarious and the photos do a great job poking fun at the stereotypes. Of course, there's no ignoring the fashion, expecially the Tory Burch leopard print dress Amber wear's "on the red carpet". So ferosh!

Fashion Forward: Art of the Trench

Burberry is the latest to jump onto the band wagon of luxury design companies embracing the internet. Just yesterday, the British fashion house launched Art Of The Trench, an interactive digital platform with social networking functionality. The point of artofthetrench.com is to celebrate the iconic Burberry trench coat and invite site users to submit their own portraits to feature on the site, creating a body of images that reflect the various trench coat styles around the globe.
"Artofthetrench.com celebrates our iconic trench coat, capturing the emotional connection behind our distinctive outerwear heritage. Everybody has a different story related to their coat or the first time they came into contact with one - I love the idea that people from all over the world can share those stories and images with each other and all the different attitudes and expressions of the Burberry trench coat and the people who wear it."

Blake Lively Grows Up

If you haven't gotten enough of the Gossip Girl stars yet, you must check out the December issue of Marie Claire on newsstands now. Blake Lively is covering the monthly glossy, debuting a more mature self and talks about designers, desires and desserts with Rebecca Miller, the director of her upcoming film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. She is starring in the movie as Pippa, a young, troubled runaway.

On her first day of filming The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and working with actress Maria Bello, Blake comments: "I was honestly terrified. I hadn't slept that much, and all I wanted that day was for Maria to say, "Wow, great job." And when she didn't say anything to me, I thought, Oh, my gosh, I'm terrible. She hates it. She's calling her agent, saying, "What have you gotten me into?"."

The fashion in the spread is also a highlight, featuring our favorite Chanel look and some beautiful Marc Jacobs separates (below). Blake looks her usual blonde bombshell self of course. We're loving the deep blue nails she's sporting too!

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee opens in theatres on November 27th, 2009. Watch the trailer below:

Spin It: Somebody To Love

Leighton Meester's video for "Somebody To Love" has officially been released on The CW's website. It's a pretty catchy tune, with a chill beat. The song, which features R&B crooner Robin Thicke, was produced by Mike Caren (Flo Rida, T.I.), so you know it should sound somewhat good.

The Gossip Girl actress told Ryan Seacrest: “[The song is] definitely about what’s going on in my life and I think anybody can relate. You’re crazy, you’re busy, you’re young and you’re running around and it’s really hard to find somebody to love. People love you but you don’t really love them.”

Rachel Flaunts Fall's Trends

Rachel Bilson is looking mighty fierce in this latest shoot for Flaunt Magazine. The former OC star is rocking the smokey eye and dark metallic nails, and we love it. Flaunt also has her in some great fall statement pieces like the ankle boots and sequins blazer in the shots below:

Hayden Christensen is one lucky man!

Add To Cart: Denim Cut-Offs

[J. Crew, $78]

You might be thinking we've lost our minds recommending some ripped up daisy duke's, but distressed denim cutoffs are a great piece to mix into your fall wardrobe this season. Throw them over a pair of leggings or colored tights, paired with some high boots and you've got yourself an edgy, urban look. The look would also do well with a great leather jacket as a finishing touch.

Keeping price and convenience in mind, we've picked these 3 pairs from J. Crew (above), Urban Outfitters and TopShop (below). The pair from Urban Outfitters is actually Levi's from their Urban Renewal collection. The J. Crew pair is a bit longer, which allows you to play with length by rolling the hem. Then, if you like the bleached denim trend out right now, the TopShop pair is definitely where it's at.

The Vampire Wears Prada

Somebody get us some water, because this is hot! K-Stew and R-Patz are gracing the cover of Harper's Bazaar December issue and looking good. The New Moon stars share the wild ride that has catapulted them into the spotlight for better or for worse. The photo shoot is incredible, featuring gorgeous designs by Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Prada, Versace, Gucci and best of all the Alexander McQueen gown (shown below) on the subscriber cover. Absolutely beautiful. I don't think Kristen Stewart has ever looked so ferosh! Glenda Bailey sure knows how to turn it out in times like these.

In the cover story, Stewart calls Pattinson "a great singer. Heartbreaking," while Pattinson says of his costar, "She's a unique girl. You really don't meet many people like Kristen."

When asked who is more romantic, Stewart immediately says Pattinson, adding, "I'd have to say Rob is. I think romance is anything honest. As long as it's honest, it's so disarming."

Stewart on who is more athletic: "I'm definitely claiming that one. Rob can barely jump rope. I call him Flippy because when he does his stunt rehearsals, he flips around [makes gestures like a penguin]. And God, when he tries to run..."

Pattinson on who googles themselves more: "[Kristen] would say me, but I reckon it's her. If either one of us catches the other one doing it, we're like, Jesus Christ, is that what you're looking at? And the other one's on their phone pretending to text. I look up my competition more than she does. I'm incredibly shallow. I think she just looks at herself."

On the motorcycle (photo below), Kristen wears Alexander Wang, Robert in Dior.

It's Not Sex, It's Artistic

Shakira has definitely done it again in her video "Did It Again". It's sexy and steamy as per usual, but this video takes an artistic spin, bringing in some capaweta looking dance moves. It makes us want to get up off our lazy butts and brush up on our dance moves (preferably on an empty stomach)! This artsy departure from her "She Wolf" video is a breathe of fresh air and Shakira is still looking muy caliente. Video below:

Vanity Fair Bites Into The Vampire Craze

It is guaranteed to sell and that means 1 less magazine to fold. Yay!
